Oil stick on paper

I don't know what it is about paper that I feel I can paint freely. Perhaps, the oil sticks go on better? Or, that I really always wanted to paint a dress form. Love. Better painting picture to follow.

  2. I prefer painting on paper too. My favorite is Strathmore mixed media paper. By the way, do you use any kind of fixative to keep the paint from coming off?

  3. I do two coatings of gesso on watercolor paper before I paint on it. The oils dry within 24 hours to the touch. They dry to a hard film so no fixative is needed. At least thats what I have read on the Shiva website. So far, the oil paint has not come off any of my paintings. They are not like oil pastels but are actual oil paint in stick form. I did read on a website once that someone used fixative on an oil stick painting and added ink on top of it. It would be a cool experiment
